Chance’s passion for the outdoors began early—he gained hands-on experience skinning for local processors and assisting taxidermists while still in high school. During college, he spent three summers guiding black bear hunts and working on sport-fishing boats in Southeast Alaska. After earning his business degree, he managed corporate hunting leases for the oil and gas industry.

  Chance first hunted free-range Nilgai with me on the Yturria Ranch as a paying client in 2010. He was immediately drawn to the ranch’s terrain and wildlife, returning regularly over the years to pursue both Nilgai and Whitetail. Recognizing his field expertise, I brought him on in 2015 to support overflow hunts. He quickly became one of our most reliable guides. Beyond his hunting skills, Chance is a dedicated student of South Texas history. He has deeply studied the Wild Horse Desert, the Rio Grande Strip, and Mr. Yturria’s The Amazing Life of a South Texas Cowboy (2015). When not guiding clients to their trophy, Chance is a devoted family man, sharing his love of the outdoors with his two young boys and his supportive wife.
